Chevrolet says that the new Corvette will have a 50/50 weight balance between front and rear, optimal for handling and driver feel.
There will be two seat choices: one for all-around comfort and a "Competition Sport" option with aggressive side bolstering to hold the driver in place during hard cornering. Both speed and efficiency are aided by a series of weight-saving measures, including a carbon fiber hood and removable roof panel; composite fenders, doors and rear quarter panels; "carbon-nano" composite underbody panels and a new aluminum frame. The first-generation Corvette was released in 1953. Only 300 were built for the year.
The world's first 2014 Chevy Corvette sold for $1.05 million at a Barrett-Jackson auction. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. (Barrett-Jackson / January 21, 2013)
